Welcome to the Fathers and Sons Parenting and Health Awareness Program Website. On this website, you will find all the tools needed to implement the Fathers and Sons Parenting and Health Awareness Curriculum. Although one in three children in the United States do not live with their biological father, fathers can still play an important role in their child’s life even when living outside of the home, especially when it comes to their healthy development.

The Fathers and Sons program is a unique opportunity for African American nonresident fathers and their 8- to-12-year-old sons to come together to strengthen their relationship. By completing this program the bonds between fathers and sons will be strengthened and positive attitudes and healthy behaviors will be enhanced in the family. The intervention involves engaging nonresident fathers and their sons in mutually beneficial activities to improve their relationships. The curriculum focuses on effective communication, cultural awareness, and skill building with the goal of strengthening parenting behaviors and allowing fathers to be protective of their sons.
